HISTORY OF TAROT

fortune telling tarot card readingThe history of tarot has been widely documented over the years, but no one really knows how or where it originated. Reports have been documented that it originated in Italy around 1392. Bringing the Tarot images to life was an unknown Parisian painter who was commissioned by a wealthy Italian aristocratic family who wanted them painted for decoration around their mansion. The wife of the family had overheard talk in the local village about a game that the peasants played called “Le Tarote”. Intrigued, she set out to find out more about “Le Tarote” and subsequently she discovered the hidden meaning behind the cards and was determined to transfer those meanings into images.

Many historical writings about ancient cultures contain hidden references to the tarot, some even dating as early as 2000BC. The term Gypsy, is derived from the word Egypt, where egyptian nomads travelled to Europe and popularised the term “fortune telling”, using tarot cards and crystal balls to see into the future.

Modern society is now accepting and beginning to understand the role of tarot and how it can be used as a tool for self development, self empowerment and the opportunity to discover more about yourself. Sit back, grab your cards, and get ready to learn the secrets of the ancients hidden in the tarot.

TAROT TIP FOR THE WEEK

Grab a small pot and plant the seed of your favourite flower you would like to grow. The essence of the Empress embodies the creative soil from which all things can manifest and through planting and nurturing your favourite flower, you are tapping into the power of receptivity and growth. This is a wonderful exercise as it can help you on your tarot journey. As you progress through the cards you can tend to the flower, watching it grow and open up to the magic of the universe, mirroring your own personal growth and understanding of the card.

The Tarot is made up of 78 cards and divided into two sections - the Major arcana (22 cards), and the Minor arcana (56 cards). This week we look at the next card in the Tarot Journey – the Empress.

3 The Empress – Birth, Creative Flow, Abundance

The Empress represents a card of great strength and the unlimited opportunities which are waiting to be discovered. The element of earth is a major symbol that is connected to the Empress as she is the guardian of the conscious world waiting to pass to you the knowledge of effortless abundance. When you are tapping into the power of the Empress, she reminds you that abundance and creativity is a gift that you have been hiding and wants you to unleash your personal power.

Drawing the Empress card indicates a time of fertility and nourishment. If you have been thinking about starting a new business, now is the time to make plans and forge ahead. The forces of mother nature surround you at this moment and is telling you to take the reins, for you have all you need right now at your disposal. Careful planning, organizing your resources and knowing you have the magical force of nature supporting your every move.

When you receive a gift, your natural instinct is to say thank you. The Empress card is acknowledging a gift to you, paving the way for the many abundant avenues that are waiting to open up. Your drive, you will, your very core is the catalyst, the igniting flame that will catch fire and burn brightly for the world to see. The Empress can also be demanding, but she is asking you to acknowledge the power you have within yourself and do you dare to show the world how you can create magic. Embrace the essence of the Empress and feel blessed that the universe is helping you to move forward to a successful and bright future.

TAROT VIBE

Why not treat yourself to something special this week. Set a time aside for yourself when you know you won’t be disturbed. Go grab a massage, take a picnic to the park for yourself, catch a movie on your own – do something to nurture you and just for you. Remember that to nurture is not just for everyone else, take the time to look after yourself.
